Providence Inner City Arts (PICA) has programmed, produced and presented inclusive and diverse cultural events for over four decades and continues its commitment to engaging the community through the art at the Roots Cultural Center.

PICA's Florentine Faire in Providence, with its eclectic mix of performers and vendors, was a cornerstone community arts festival that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds in a celebration of cultural diversity. Other events included an outdoor'Jazz on Sunday' series on Benefit Street, outdoor theater in Burnside Park and a 'Salute to Children' at Roger Williams Park, which provided a safe forum for inner city schoolchildren toexpressthemselves creatively.

PICA's community-oriented efforts have been recognized with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, Vista, andthe New England Foundation for the Arts. As a nonprofit, PICA seeks programming support through partnerships with businesses and individuals.

The PICA mission continues at the Roots Cultural Center where any given week one might see live, award-winning blues and jazz, nationally touring folk ensembles, spoken word events and topical roundtables with local personalities.
